I loved the growth of the characters thru a 'Broad', 'Close' and 'Beam' Reach. Encouraging for me. Just as impressive is the obvious growth in writing acumen of Myrvang and Jurgich.If you want a story of family, friends, their love of one another, fun and adventure, read the 'Reach' series.

I'm so glad I got a satisfying conclusion. I loved the first two books in the series, and I was waiting for this. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say won't be disappointed!
The only disappointment in this book is that it seems like it took a long time to arrive. The characters are lovable; funny at times with LOL faux pas', but always very real, portraying real life emotions through some very tragic times, as well as very exciting adventures and happy life events. The story line is great. It has been fun following the characters through all three Reach books, as they make their way through the twists and turns of the things that happen to them from mysterious murders, to FBI investigations, to sailing and Treasure Hunting. I had trouble putting it down. This is a must read if you live on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. This is a MUST READ if you WANT to live on St. Croix, (and who wouldn't want to live on this beautiful island??)!!
Myrvang and Jurgich scored a touchdown on this one!!! I'll be anxiously awaiting the next series they tackle.
Well...I have been waiting a long time (feels like decades!) for this book to finally arrive. I was dying to know what happened after the FBI nightmare of Book 2. I will not post spoilers here (although I am dying to do so). I guess I need a book club where I can discuss the various aspects of this book.
Before reading this, I re-read Books 1 and 2. One of the shockers I noticed was the prophetic aspect, on page 16 of Book 1, where Barney told Paul that he should take Donald Trump as an example of someone who doesn't give up when he is down (bankrupt)....and even used the word "puxxy" - in 2012 - before any of us knew that Trump would escalate grabbing various of them to get to the White House. If you forgot about that paragraph, you have to go back and take a look...scary stuff, future-seeing.
Now, the growth of the author through these three books was amazing. The plots of each of the three books were completely different - but each of the characters remained incredibly true to their voices, visions, and personalities. Even the "classic authors" have trouble doing that - especially in a series! Except for the brief breakdown Paul had in Book 2 (from which he and Sienna grew exponentially) - the Reach characters aged, matured, and developed just like real people do - in a 3-dimensional way.
The care that the author(s) have put into writing these books is obvious. The love of St. Croix is overwhelming. The beauty of the island is the backdrop to the excitement, intrigue, FBI-dom, suspense, and treasure-hunting. The characters' love - that's just beautiful. Their humanity - it is humbling.
So many great themes and causes developed - mental illness and its power over a person; good vs. evil and fighting it with evil (reminded me of season 1 of Breaking Bad); families and blended families; careers; charity; marriage and divorce; heartbreak, loss, and love.
Book 1 was a great beach read - Book 2 was an exciting thriller - Book 3 was an epic love story. The series - riveting, beautiful, heartbreaking, soulful, and timeless.
Thanks for finishing this so carefully and beautifully. Your engaged and "greatest fan" is happy with the ending - while I will not spoil it - but to say - I think you all will love it.
I bought this book for full price on the island of St. Croix. I proudly exhibit these three books on my living room table as its only adornment. I am not related to the authors, except for the fact that we are all Crucians. I am so proud of them. They rocked this series!
Read this series - you will never regret it.
